Paradiso Ristorante Italiano
Paradiso is both a pleasure and a surprise. It’s
a restaurant for every food-loving Virginian – local families and
friends, suited and fashionable types, the casual young and old. But
Paradiso Ristorante always feels serene no
matter how crowded it gets. The restaurant’s design is eclectic and
comfortable, with an air of elegance. Partitioned into a few small
rooms, the place provides a homey atmosphere no matter where you sit.
Its interior – natural barn wood, stain glass windows, portraits,
topical paintings and posters, elegant mirrors and soft lighting – is
an appropriate one for a Italian restaurant whose food is wonderfully
delicious.

Celtic Marc
The origin of the "Celtic Marc"
The
group name draws from the Irish word “marc” meaning a sign or an
impression, besides it being the letters of the founding band members’
names. Now it’s time to take in the Celtic Marc experience.....
Fancy
the summer Irish sunset over the mountain in back of you, lasting as an
ever present dusk into the late night. The rising moon casts faint
shadows over the cross-shaped tombstones standing like faceless
formless statues as you look out over the fields to the bay. Waves are
slowly and rhythmically lapping onto the white strand. The cows are
heard softly lowing as they rest for the night. Over the land hangs
the low lying haze created by the sweet smelling turf burning in homes
appearing as lighted dots over the landscape. Permeating and rising
above it all, as if they were coming from every dot, are the sounds of
music from timeless Celtic instruments of all kinds playing together a
high spirited blend of driving tunes and gentle songs. Yes! Know that
as a sign that the Celtic Marc is near.......keeping the ambiance of
the Irish traditional music alive and kicking.
Dave Mallen
Dave
Mallen's songs blur the lines between folk, country, rock, and
worldbeat, translating the complexities of life into words and melodies
we can all relate to. Perhaps it all began at age 4, when his mother
taught him his first piano chords; or age 8, when one day he mirrored
the guitar fingerings he saw Buddy Holly play on an old Ed Sullivan
broadcast. Or maybe it was the day his father played him some vintage
reel-to-reel recordings of a 1968 folk music radio show. All we know is
that Dave discovered at a very early age the immeasurable power of
music, and his love for creating it.
DC4
DC-4 is a Vintage Pop-Rock band covering songs
mostly from the 60’s, 70’s. DC-4’s repertoire has something for
everybody, including songs from The Beatles, Beau Brummmels, Dave Clark
5, The Raiders, Guess Who, BoDeans, Ramones, and Talking Heads. The
blend of music is highly contagious, sometimes obscure yet
recognizable, listenable, and danceable.
Jesper Luth
I have been in the industry since 1985 starting as a
lonely stagehand in New Jersey for such acts as Paul Anka and Wayne
Newton. A few years later while in high school I got experience in the
theatre world, working as an electrician and console operator for a
number of different shows at The State University of New York at New
Paltz, as well as taking a course in stage electrics and design...
John Longbottom
John, originally from England, is a fun-loving entertainer
easily switching from rollicking crowd-pleasing audience-participation
songs to tender and poignant ballads. During his 20 odd, sometimes
very odd, years performing in the Washington D.C. area and points
North and South along the East Coast as well as the San Francisco area
and many tours in Europe, John has built both a solid repertoire and
reputation as a performer and as a musician. He has played with Pete
Seeger, Steven Stills, Don Williams and a host of well-known Blue-Grass
bands. In addition, John has played with various Country Bands as well
as the new Orleans-based group “The Celtic Folk”. Later he teamed with
Paul Martin to become the “Ferrymen”, a very popular East Coast Irish
duo. In-between bands John has always performed as a solo artist
combining his various musical experiences and influences into an
eclectic mix of American, Irish, English and Scottish folk/rock music.
Not only a witty and engaging performer, loving to interact with the
audience, John is also a very accomplished guitar player.
Keltish
Keltish is a three (and sometimes
four) piece band whose players are all of celtic descent, but all born
in America with widely different musical backgrounds. Keltish plays a
mix of acoustic and electric instruments, and the tunes chosen are
often traditional Celtic tunes with a fun and tasteful modern twist.
Matt Weilmuenster
Matt has been singing since elementary school, but he
didn't pick up a guitar until he was 16. For years he played more for
his own enjoyment than anything else. Involved with several local bands
over the years, mostly as a lead vocalist, he was finally convinced by
friend and Hampton Roads musician Eric Insley (formerly with Everyday
Circus, now playing with local favorite Soulpatch,) to finally start
learning enough material to play full live shows. In 2005, he started
playing out, mostly at Port 151 in Poqouson, VA, and R.J.s in Newport
News. 2006 brought about a move from Yorktown, VA, to Manassas, VA,
located about 45 minutes west of Washington D.C. While in Manassas he
played several local venues, primarily Molly's Irish Pub and the
Philadelphia Tavern. Another job change in December of 2006 led to
another move, this time to Old Town Alexandria. A hiatus of six months
from playing solo shows led Matt to hanging out at some local venues,
like Tiffany Tavern and the Flying Fish, that feature acoustic acts and
open mics. After meeting several local musicians, Matt started to sit
in with them on shows.
Norman Greenbaum
Where is he now? Although
Norman is no longer involved in farm adventures, he still lives in
Northern California, devoting his energy into developing “Spirit In The
Sky”, the web site. He is also gathering and enhancing previously
unreleased material, along with working on a set of new songs for
future projects. Stay Tuned...
Rocky Guttman
Rocky knows hundreds of songs. Here are some so you can see how many styles are included. Rocky will learn specified songs for private events also.
Roger McGuinn (and Here)
My wife and I met Roger under
a bridge in 1995. (This was after a gig on a stage that had been set up
under that bridge at the Chattanooga Riverbend Festival). Roger had
just gotten finished doing a solo retrospective of his music - just him
and his guitar, and then he mingled a bit with the crowd. I knew who he
was but had never gotten into his music before, and so when we talked
some of the questions we asked him propably sounded a little stupid.
Nevertheless, Roger was very patient with us and answered our questions
like only a true teacher would. I realized this man is not a typical
"celebrity type" by any stretch (read primadonna) but actually came
across not only as kind and caring but also as "real" if you know what
I mean. After that encounter I did start listening to his music and
realized what I had been missing for so long. I am now a huge fan of
his work and proud to have met him. Keep on going, man! Jack Hidle Springfield, VA USA - Friday, January 06, 2006 at 16:25:45 (EST)
